Depression and stress haunts asylum seekers

Many asylum seekers waiting for their cases in Borås have complained of stomach crumbs, unusual pains in their stomachs. One asylum seeker interviewed narrates how depression and stress is killing them.

”I have had stomach crumbs and pains since I came to Sweden. When they did the usual free health check I told them about this problem but they said they can not find anything wrong in the stomach.  At first I suspected stomach ulcers but later on I had many of my friends complaining of the same problem. Some said they have been told that maybe they have a parisite in the stomach that may have entered through contamination of dirty water or food. The crumbs come at certain times and I have come to realise that it is when I am depressed or thinking a lot. And this is because most of the time I think a lot about my case.

Everyday I see some of my friends getting lawyers for their cases but im not. I see other people at peace but im not. I have many wishes which I envy from the Swedish people and wish one day i can also live in that peace.”
This problem is now becoiming too common with many asylum seekers and nobody cares about them. They are just left by themselves. Whether they need counselling or anything that could provide healing to their worries, stress and depression nobody cares.

Yes something should be done about this stress. Organized extra mural activities could be a way to keep us away from this depression and stress
