Nordic Intercultural Communication Conference, 26-28 November 2014.

A conference on Nordic Intercultural Communication will be held at the University of Iceland 26-28 November 2014, as part of the network Nordic Intercultural Communication (NIC).

The NIC 2014 conference will discuss Intercultural Communication from various standpoints, such as :
· Intercultural Communication in Academia
· Language, Culture and Communication within the Nordic Region
· Intercultural Communication and Translation

Other topics and themes related to intercultural communication are also welcome.

Those who wish to participate are invited to submit their abstracts (max. 300 words) before 15 September 2014 to gudrunkr@hi.is

Keynote speakers are:
· Daniel Everett, Professor of Sociology and Global Studies, Dean of Arts and Sciences at Bentley University, Waltham, Massachusetts.
· Andreas F Kelletat, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. mult. at Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, Germersheim, Germany.
· Karen Risager, Professor Emerita at the University of Roskilde, Denmark.

The conference will take place at the Radisson Blu Saga Hotel **** close to the University of Iceland on 26-28 November.

Workshops will be set up in English and in Scandinavian languages and German, depending on convenience and participants‘ preference.

The opening ceremony will be held in the Aula of the University of Iceland Main building on Wednesday, 26 November at 6 pm.

The main dinner (including an optional swim) will close the conference at the Blue Lagoon on Friday, 28 November.

Registration for the conference and the final dinner will be opened shortly.

The conference is organized by the Vigdís Finnbogadóttir Institute of Foreign Languages at the University of Iceland, with support from The Clara Lachmann Foundation and the Centre for Research in the Humanities at the University of Iceland.
