Journal of Intercultural Communication (JICC) (ISSN 1404-1634) is an international, double-blind peer-reviewed, and open-access journal. The world today is characterized by an ever-growing number of contacts, resulting in communication between people with different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. This communication takes place because of contacts within the areas of business, military cooperation, science, education, mass media, entertainment, and tourism, but also because of immigration brought about by labour shortages or political conflicts.

In all these contacts, there is communication that needs to be as constructive as possible, without misunderstandings and breakdowns. We believe that research on the nature of linguistic and cultural similarities and differences here can play a positive and constructive role.

The goal of the journal is to encourage scholars to publish their experimental and theoretical research and promote research but also Communication, Cultural Studies, Strategy and Management, Education, Linguistics and Language, Gender Studies, and Public Administration in the area of intercultural communication. The journal is an outgrowth of the activities of NIC – the Nordic Network for Intercultural Communication. The great interest shown in the activities of NIC has pointed to a need for more journals employing a peer-review procedure within the area of intercultural communication. We hope that by starting this journal, we will be able to encourage more research, facilitate contact between interested researchers, and provide better opportunities for peer-reviewed publication. We welcome contributions, original research, and reviews concerning all areas of intercultural communication and cross-cultural comparison.
